I’m a planner in all things. I have a Happy Planner to keep my days and week organized. I have a more traditional bullet journal for my writing/blogging goals (and personal collections like books read, work outs, etc). I even have a traveler’s notebook I take with me when I, well, travel, to journal in.
I like organization, can you tell? 🙂
Things really amped up with my planning needs last year when I realized that, when things were planned (as well as they could be, of course) my anxiety levels decreased and my prodictivty increased.
Anectodally, it was a win. So at the end of 2016 I stepped things up making an annual stragety so I have a road map of where I want to be when it comes to writing, by the end of this year. I then broke that annual strategy down into quarters.
All good, right?
In theory, yes.
There is however, a downside to all this planning and I’ve run into on and off throughout last year & thhi month. That downside is when the planning of things takes over the getting the things done. In other words, I’m so busy planning things, I don’t actually finish anything.
I noticed this issue cropping up early in the week and was able to nip it in hte bud, for now, but it is something that planners, like me, need to look out for.
Anyway, let’s see how I did last week with the goals, shall we? (I’m a day late posting this, I know. I had plans to post it, but life happened. :D):
[Note: green = completed; red = not started; blue = in progress; orange = missed the mark]
- Yoga, or other workout, 3x per week: On track
- Merge beta responses for MS (completed)
- Final read through of MS/line edits: lots of progress here. I think I’ll be posting the first chapter of Wanted to Wattpad, as a teaser of sorts, next week. O.O
- Blog 2x per week: I only wrote one last week
- Read through draft of Sweet Escape and get revision plan in place
- Research effective newletters
- Outline novella
These are my goals for the entire round so even though there is a lot of red there, I know I have time to color it all green and blue. I’ve decided to add the following to my ROW80 first round goals, as well:
- Choose cover for Wanted
- Get all copyright/ISBN stuff completed
- Draw up marketing plan
I might add some more as we get through the round, depending on my progress.
I’m leaving for Orlando on Wednesday though, so I’ll be a bit scarce on social media and the blog this week. Hopefully I’ll have some pictures to share when I return.
I hope everyone has a great week and good luck with your goals!
